In this inspiring comedy, Dorothy, a 63-year-old widow, realizes life is too short to delay her dreams. Determined to honor her late husband’s retirement plans, she takes their RV on an extraordinary road trip to Burning Man—a weeklong culture festival in the desert with no plumbing. Through hilariously challenging parking lessons, quirky encounters, and moments of self-discovery, she rekindles her adventurous spirit and finds courage she didn’t know she had. This heartfelt odyssey celebrates art, human connection, and the beauty of small moments. Dorothy’s journey will leave you laughing, crying, and ready to embrace life’s unexpected adventures.

ASL INTERPRETED PERFORMANCE

Performances where ASL interpreters translate the dialogue and songs onstage for patrons who are Deaf or hard of hearing into American Sign Language. For Burning Mom, the ASL Interpreters will be most visible from the third and fourth rows of audience right. To book the best seats to access ASL Interpretation please enter ASLACCESS5721 in the promo code box in the top right, or click here. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ASL ASSIGNED SEATS UNLESS YOU OR MEMBERS OF YOUR PARTY REQUIRE ASL INTERPRETATION.

There will also be 2 ASL Interpreters in the lobby for anyone requiring ASL to English Interpretation for lobby interactions (ie. The bar, box office, communicating with ushers, etc.).

ASL Interpretation coordinated by Diane Deandrade with Deaf Consultation from Chris Dodd

SENSORY INFORMED PERFORMANCE

A Sensory Informed performance is like a Relaxed Experience in that it offers an accessible option to audience members who may benefit from a more relaxed environment in the theatre or those who may have not normally felt comfortable attending a live performance. This may be ideal for people with sensory concerns, autism spectrum disorders, learning disorders, dementia, families with babies or younger children, or those that may need to be able to leave the theatre frequently during the performance. It is a “no shushing” performance that allows our audience members to be themselves!

The theatre will be dimly lit but not completely dark, there is a relaxed attitude toward audience movement and noise. Please note: No production elements (lighting, sound, special effects) will be altered for this performance. There will be no introductory speech before the performance.

Please refer to each production’s Visual Guide for a thorough explanation of each element of our Production (available two weeks before our scheduled Sensory Informed Experience).

A quiet space will be available for those that may need to have a break from the performance or lobby crowd. The Citadel Theatre has numerous sensory kits available for audience members to use that include sunglasses, fidget toys, ear plugs and ear muffs.

Babes-in-Arms (Ages 0-2) may attend the performance at no cost, however every person entering the theatre must have a ticket assigned for safety regulations and seating capacity. Please contact the Box Office at 780-425-1820 to book a Babes-in-Arms ticket.
